Lisa Marie Tuzon passed away on Sunday at 7:30 pm at home surrounded by love and family. Lisa was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December of 2016. She faced this challenge head on, with grace and determination, like she did any challenge in her life. Lisa was an active member and instructor for the American Taekwondo Association. She began her martial arts training in March of 1994 and earned the title World Champion in combat sparring in 2011. Lisa trained for her 5th degree black belt while fighting cancer. She reached this goal and was honored by Senior Master Jordan Schreiber, peers, and students in a moving ceremony on September 14, 2017 held at Brun's house in Alamo, Ca. Lisa enjoyed training, teaching and competing in Taekwondo. After her diagnosis she spoke often of her desire to leave a positive legacy with her martial arts community. Lisa is survived by her loving wife Kelly, devoted children Alejandro, Katelyn, Garrett, and Connor Tuzon, Mother Irma Tuzon, Brothers Robert (Erica) and Ronald (Matt), Sister Toni Carmichael (Rob), and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life on Sunday October 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at The Grove Church 960 Willow ave. Hercules, Ca 94547. In Lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Hospice of the East Bay @ hospiceeastbay.org or Team Pride, Inc. which provides at risk youth with martial arts classes at prideforkids.org.
