   Jess passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by his side.  He touched many lives by sharing stories of his life and the knowledge that he carried with him.  Jess cared about everyone, and showed them by the way he lived his life.
   Jess was born to Jess Lee Carlock and Luvenia West Carlock in Little Rock, Arkansas.  He grew up on Petit Jane Mountain where he attended eight years of grammer school and three years of high school.  He went to work for the Civilian Conservation Corps where he received over 120 hours of auto mechanic training.  Jess served on the U.S.S. Cambria APA-36 from 1942 to 1945, during World War II.  He was involved in eight invasions.  After his discharge from the military, Jess and Red Barnes started the Rhythmairres Band.  Jess played lead guitar and was the business manager.  He moved to California seeking better employment.  He worked as a truck mechanic.  Jess met and married Wilma Cramer in 1951 and Gwen and Roger became his step-children.  In 1952 Troy was born and Randy arrived in 1960.  While working at Consolidated Freight he invented the Spark Plug Defouler to help keep spark plugs from misfiring.  Jess created The Watchmakers Association in Contra Costa County. He was also a Master Mason.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
  Jess is survived his children, Roger Cramer (Deanna) of Lebanon, Oregon, Gwen Light (Mike) of Red Bluff, and Troy Carlock (Terri) of Martinez.  Grandchildren: Kevin Ward, Todd Cramer, Dennis Cramer, Matthew Cramer, Errin Silva, Troy Carlock Jr., Jeremy  Carlock, and Josh Carlock, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  As well as his sister, Juanita Fox of San Pablo.  He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Wilma; son, Randy; grandchildren, Earl Ward III (Butch), Jeff Ward, and two great-grandchildren.  Jess will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Saturday, March 10th from 9~11AM with a service at 11AM both at Connolly & Taylor. Interment to follow at Rolling Hills Memorial Park.
