Vera Marjorie Smith

June 21, 1925 ~ September 7, 2017 (age 92)
Vera Marjorie Smith passed away on Thursday September 7th. She touched countless lives with her radiant smile and beautiful heart.
Vera was born to Croatian immigrants and grew up in Humboldt County during the great depression. Learning the life lessons of that time; loyalty, family, reason and honesty, characteristics she embodied throughout her life. Vera worked in the shipyards during WWII; and after the war, married the one and only love of her life, Terry. They raised four beautiful children in Pacheco and in 1980 made the bold decision to start a heavy construction company. Dura Crane and Rigging, Inc. became a staple of the community, where all four children worked and learned the meaning of hard work and dedication which served them well throughout their lives.
Vera is survived by her two devoted sons; Ted and Dennis (Sharon), five grandchildren; Randy, Jamie, Kyle (Logan), Anthony and Catherine, and two great grandchildren; Cameron and Henry, two nephews, Gary Pavlich (Charlotte), Ron Matson (Cindy) and Lynnette Peters and countless great nieces and nephews. Vera is preceded in death by her husband Terry and children Marsha Laverty(John) and Paul (Jennifer).
