Tony Cola passed away on Monday from a brief and sudden illness. .
Tony was born in Albany, Calif. The family moved to Martinez when was 9 yrs. old. He was graduate of Alhambra High school at the young age of 16. He then went to work for his father in the construction business. At the age of 20 he was called to duty in the Army in WWII where he served honorably in the Pacific Theater as a construction engineer for the 25th division. After his discharge from the Army in 1945, he married the Alice, the love of his life in 1946. He then went on to raise his 3 children and had a career as a carpenter for 40 years. Tony was a self-taught accordion player who supplied music at just about all family parties. He also had a love for the opera. After retirement you could always count on Tony to help out family and friends with any home repair projects. Tony and Alice enjoyed taking road trips which included drives to Washington to visit their sons while making a stop in Weed to visit their daughter. Tony is preceded in death by his wife Alice, brother Domenic, and sister Joanna Gaffney . He is survived by his children David (Alena) and Dennis both of Port Orchard Wa, Karen Merkel (Tom), Weed Ca., grandchildren Sonja Ramirez (Kevin) and David Jr. great-grandchildren Kayla and Zachary Crawford. He is also survived by his sister Roseanne Anselmo and brother Salvatore Cola both of Martinez. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, April 4rth from 3~8PM w/Vigil at 7PM at Connolly & Taylor Funeral Chapel. Committal Service will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery on Wednesday, April 5th at 11:45AM.
